WHen I am driving my tach will bounce around for like a second then go back to normal. This really isnt a big problem but wondered if it was a easy fix. I also have a automatic transmission and want to do a 5 speed swap. I was wondering if anyone knows anyone in iowa that would do this or how much all the parts would cost. Thanx

you might as well just do the sr20det swap and get a 5 speed with it, bc it will cost around the same.

5spd swaps arent that expensive if you really look around.....Heres how mine's going

transmission, Crossmember - $25Driveshaft - $14Flywheel,bolts,adapter plate - $12Clutch pedal assy - $9Clutch slave, rubber line - $9Clutch master, lines, bleeder - $10Brake pedal assy - $9

Have yet to buy a clutch but im gonna go with a Centerforce from nopi - $200Figure Ill rebuild the slave and master cylinders - $30?Put a new bearing and u-joints on the driveshaft - $???Dont know about the transmission... is 189k in the rebuild zone?

So far I've spent $90 on this, and I figure if I dont have to do anything to the transmission, I'll spend another $300 on parts for the swap. $400 is about average or even on the good side for a 5spd swap I think.:icon18

yes, $400-$600 is about right for a 5 speed swap if you do it yourself from used parts. The parts are fairly easy to come by, and the work is simple enough (2 out of 5 on difficulty).Jsut don't let some rice shop charge you $1800 or MORE to do the swap.

Take your time Dauntt, just wanted to confirm that you recieved it and clear the b.s. going on around here. I never said it before, but I do admire you for the hard work you are putting into this site, and I don't want to take away from that, so you have my personal email address, if you have something to say to me, use it, ok?
