I cannot seem to get any tach to work on my car. I swapped out a cluster and the new one does not work. I bought an aftermarket small tach and spliced it into the wire out of the ecu and nothing works. The tach lights up, even the aftermarket one but it will not move. Have any ideas what I need to replace? I have checked all fuses.I have a 93 dohc ka24de.

hmmm. are the tachs your buying from a SOHC? if so it wont work. yu need to make sure you get one for a DOHC.it is possible that you may need a new harness.

A new harness? How hard is that to come by? How do I tell if I have a SOHC cluster?

i believe that the SOHC tach reads up to 115MPH and redline starts at 6500rpmand i believe that the DOHC goes up to 110MPH and redlines at 7000rpm

the harness are easy to get. ebay or local junk yard. its just plug and play with the harness/cluster.

Well my speedo goes to 110... So i am betting it is DOHC. I also tapped into the wire that comes out of the ecu. Even tried an aftermarket tach. So i have no idea. it sucks
