i also heard of a msd tach adapter i heard this can make your tach work, what does it do?

were does the yellow/red signal wire lead to from the ecu

when i had my alt checked at autozone they put some kind of magnetic device on the - battery cable that was able to read the rpms, is there any way i can get my tach signal from the - cable?

Check to see if the internal harness was wired correctly. Sounds to me you just have a bad connection at the in cabin plug (aka F3 plug).

the white plug that runs to the gauge cluster and plugs in right beside the main harness plug (ECU plug)
