ok...so I'm almost 100% sure it will work...but I can use my 93 DOHC tach with my CA right?

The reason I'm asking is because a very knowlegable SR guy has told me that the CA uses an 8 bit ECU (like the single cam KA) while the SR uses a 16 bit ECU (like the twin cam KA)...Along this line of logic, he concluded that I need a SOCH tach...Is he right or does the ECU bit # hold no relevance?

I guess I just need to know if I can continue to use my KA twin cam tach with my CA?

Thanks,Sean

Personally, i'd want the tach that came with the CA18DET. That 9k tach might come in handy some day :)

Off-Topic: the US HUD speedometer allows for the switch of KPH to MPH, does the CA18 HUD allow for this too? if not, is there anyway I can change JUST the tach face to allow for the higher redline on the CA18, also, I may be installing A/C with my CA18, what about A/C lights and ****, THANKS

sorry for th OT,

It's okay to have a fast car with A/C. SOme other speedsters may care to differ, but here in Miami we gotta have it and so does my cars (CA18 or not).

I don't know about a Japanese HUD, but looking through the European FSM, there is absolutely no mention of the HUD cluster in it, I think it was just a Japan and NA market option.

If you take the US cluster and just replace the face on the tach it will not work properly. It is not calibrated for the higher redline and the increments are different. You would be reading 5000 rpms on your JDM gauge face, but you would really be turning about 4000 rpms on the US face. Just get a pic of each one and put them side by side, you will see that they are in fact incremented differently.

To make it easy, just swap out the whole tach cluster. It should be held in by screws in the back and then you can just add the whole unit into the US cluster. Easy as pie!

Yea, that's what i did. There is like 3 screws in the back and i think 2 more on the front side. Take out the whole CA tach assembly and put it in the US cluster. However, if you have HUD on your cluster and the cluster you stole the CA tach from does not have HUD then you will have to do 2 more things. The tach face will have to be trimmed slightly to fit and you will need to steal the needle from the US tach and put it in the CA tach. My CA tach was too big to fit properly so that is what i had to do but its no big deal at all.
