tach question signal question

im having a tach problem rob gave me a dohc tach, but it still doenst work. my dash wirings fine, i also heard that the yellow/red wire goes to the cas if thats true then what wire off the cas do i tap in to, cuz i was thinking of just getting a aftermarket tach and wiring it up to the cas
