tach problems swapped sr20det in to 1990 240sx

ok i got a 1990 240sx and swaped in the black top s13 sr20det i know the whole thing about putting an after market tach in you hook it up to the yellow with red stripe from your ecu. tried that tach does not work. i also cant find the dohc tach and would rather put in the aftermarket tach i already have. what are my other posibilites for hooking this up i have read many fourm and couldnt find anything. can any one help me is been driving me crazy

Make sure the tach signal coming from the ECU is attached properly to the corresponding wire on the dash connector

i have cheak that i need to know where it could come of the engine. is it possible to go of the number one cylender coil

can any one else help me some one told me that you can take it of one of the 4 wires that run to coil number one i dont want to try this and wreak the tack or anythin

followed that wire and it ran to a plug that conected to nothing i took the aftermarket tack and tied it in with ignition coil 1got a signal but it only gave about 1/4 of the signal because its only getting one signal acting as its a one cylender motor rather then 4
