My 89' piggy's tach doesnt work. its been like that for a couple of years. ive taken to shops to get a read out see what it could be. and ive gotten nothing.so i was thinking of just getting a dash mounted TACH. or maybe a new cluster. cuz i have no idea what the problem could be. one guy told me it coulda been some sensor on the transmission that reads RPMs.

so i really have no F-ing clue what it could be. ive Red lined it plenty of times and im scared the next one could be the last one.

the piggys rolling 205k miles strong.

just buy a cluster off someone on nico and try and throw it in, if it still dont work, run a new tach signal wire from the distributer or coil and just splice it in behind the dash.

there is a rpm sensor on the underside of the transmission, the wire might have riped off or could be grounding it self. i think it is the set of wires closest to the engine bay

YEP, IT'S THE LITTLE SENSOR UNDER THE transmission. When i got my car, i went under and saw that one of the wire was cut. I used speaker wire connectors and voila.

It's the sensor, I bet one wire is cut.
