tach ? please help

Discuss the RB20, RB25 and RB26 series engines.

question- why am i not getting a signal on my autometer tach. I got the red,white wire connect to power black is ground and green is signal, i already hooked it up to the yellow/red behind cluster and nothing also i tried hooking it up to ecu and nothing someone help btw the tach is good already tried it.

Does your tach have the ability to select between 4,6,8 and other signal? is it made to be wired to a coil signal or ecu?

did your stock tach work after you swapped in the RB? is your ground good?

yeah my tach could be used with this engine, this is the one i got http://autometer.com/cat_gauge...=2902

darius-i just got the car running its never work since i started it.

i bought it off some guy who also had an s13 rb20 and it work on his without the adaptor, btw i cant get ahold of the guy anymore this was awhile, anyway i tried the yellow/red wire coming from ecu pin#7 and the green one #5 and nothing. any ideas.

First thing you have to do is check if you are getting a signal from the tach wire from the ECU. If you have that, then obviously it has something to do with the tach or your wiring (power/ground/signal). I'm assuming the adapter is what autometer provides with their generic tach to serve all cylinder applications??
