tach not working

i recently finished my rb20det swap and my tach was working til i crossed a wire with the tach wire for a second. Now its non responsive when i start the car ...ive changed the gauge cluster and still nothing. where do i start looking?

Check the ECU as you may have fried part of it.

oh i hope not rb20 ecus are not cheap
but the car starts fine and runs strong

check ecu..then see if the speed sensor is good. you might have just smoked the sensor and might need a new one?

the speed sensor has nothing to do with the tach signal

When you say you switched the gauge cluster already do you mean you got a gauge cluster from a ka24de? I had the same problem but it was because I was going from SOHC to DOHC (ka24e --> SR20det). So.....either that might be the problem or my mechanic got me good b/c I don't know what SOHC and DOHC has anything to do with it but it sure solved my problem.
