Tach is shot, anyone had this?

So I'm driving to PA when I first got my J and I noticed the Tachometer went up to like 7k and moments later went back down. It did that a few more times and then stopped. It has been doing it more and more frequently now a days. It bothers the hell out of me...

How do I fix? Do I have to replace the cluster, is there a sensor or is it something complicated?

First step is to take the cluster out and clean the connections.
