Hey guys... the car is comming along my low vaccuum problem is gone and just ****ign /w it we got the timing to the point today that I drove it down the stret and ti drove pretty well i was able to peel out in my driveway.. but there are some problems.

The tach isn't working and its a 93??? Now I just went out and looked at it...the pinout I have says the tach signal is wire 3.. 5 over on the left fromt he center top row... and that is one of the 6 dash wires.... mine is free... but the weird part is that there IS a yellow/red or yellow/orange whichever it is WITH the other 5 already and I saudered it.. so obviously its the wrong one that is saudered but my Q is wtf wire is it then if not the tach signal...

problem two.. we were tryinh to set the timing with a timing light... and every time we approached the 2nd mark from the right it would run like total **** and the marks would jump around all over the place the farther I went passed the marks on the right the better it ran until it would hit a point where it would die... I don't know that my RPM is at 750 because the tach isn't working.

any suggestions?

Do you have the diagram showing which marks on the crank are which timing intervals? You have to know that to set the timing. It is in the factory service manual. I can email you a PDF of the diagram if you hit me at [email protected]At idle, timing should be about 20 degrees advanced.

no idea on your tach though, have you tried hooking up an aftermarket one, just to see if can get a reading? mayeb the stock tach is dead.

Are you sure you didnt accidentily solder the wire right next to it? The tach wire signal (pin 3 yellow with red stripe) and Coil pack output (pin 2 red with yellow stripe) are right next to each other.

If you soldered the right one then it should work. What do you mean by "mine is free?"

The tach works now... I'm trying to explain it but apparently I failed. The tach wire.. the right one... was pinned in the ECU but the wire didn't go with the rest of te harness it just dangled. The 6 interior wires were all bundled and taped together but for some reason the tach wire wasn't with it.. I still have no idea what the other wire was. The car is driveable now I drove it a few times today. The timing still isn't right the car runs but feels like its lacking some power and top end... it is also boosting to 10 PSI rather than 7

Just a recommendation on things to check:1. CAS alignment (per S14 SR service manual). Silver links lined up with marks on the marks on cam sprockets at cyl. #1 on compression cycle.2. Proper timing check (TPS unplugged, idle at 750 RPM, use a cut sparkplug wire)
