I recently installed a sr20det in my 1990 240sx and manual transmission (used to be automatic). The cluster worked before and everything in the cluster works now except the TAC . I was told that all I need is a JDM cluster or a TAC from a 240sx that had a DOHC KA in it. I was wondering if this is true and can I go to a dealership and order a TAC for a DOHC? If I do that, is it a plug 'n' play type of deal?

Trying to sell car so if someone can help ASAP that would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

If your car was SOHC you will need a DOHC tach. the install is easy

I really don't know much about the KAs. So can I go to a dealership and get one? What year am I looking for for the TAC? Does it even need to be from a 240 or can it be any DOHC TAC?

MOst S13 parts are discontinued for the S13 so your best bet is to find a used gauge cluster from a 91-94 240sx

What's HUD? Heads Up Display? Will any DOHC TAC work? Even if it's from an automatic?

Alright, cool, let me know about the TAC you might have. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out. And if I decide to keep the car or get another one, you earned my business. Thanks

Our cars have a TAC (Thermastatic air control)?

I think you mean Tach, which is short for tachometer

Wow. really? TAC?, Tach?, Tic Tac?, either way you understood what I was talking about. Rather than pointing out stupid stuff, try helping.

Thanks

I am helping. Knowing the proper information is always helpful. I'm sorry your little ego can't handle the correction.

People have a brake problem, not a break problem. It's called an MIL (malfunction indicator light), not a CEL (check engine light). It's called a tachometer, not a tacometer.

Using the proper language helps clarify your problem and shows a little bit of intelligence.

ego? I don't have an ego. I spelled Tach wrong, big deal. Help me fix the problem not correct my spelling or inform me that TAC is something else which is irrelevant to my problem

Enough said, thank you

You're right, clarification is a major part of the automotive field. Especially trying to explain things to people who don't understand. I'm sorry for exploding about you correcting me. You were helping and I wouldn't except that. If you have any advice about my Tach, I'd appreciate it. Sorry and thanks

And yes, I might have an ego situation that needs looked at.

Well I hope you fixed your problem with your tach.

My hint is stay away from HUD, there are about 3 people that have them, and they fail a lot, including me, for the past month I have been driving around with no speedometer.

Thanks. I have a guy mailing me a DOHC CLuster so we'll see if that works. Now, my question is... Can I just plug it all in and it'll work if the cluster is working? Or do I need to modify the wires

I am not sure, I would just get the same dash as it would of come in the car. If your cars lets just say a 2001, then it would be best to get a cluster from a 2001. That way everything fits, and it stays stock, because if you start modifying wires now, you could have problems later.

Just a thought.

The only problem with that is the cluster that is in there now is from a SOHC and I need a DOHC cluster. Or are you talking about a JDM Cluster?
