t56/4l60e

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Hello, its been a while since I've posted

In a few weeks I will finally get to start my 5.3lsx (or 5.7 if i find a good deal) swap in my 90 240sx, I've been researching a great deal, mostly on silviav8 and ls1-tech.

I ran across a website the other night while looking for a t-56 transmission, a car lot that specializes in ws6's and carmaros. Anyhow they claim that the t-56 is cheap and unreliable and near and is almost impossible
to rebuild once it starts to go, which to me sounds completely unbelievable, they also state that the 4l60e is capable of preforming better and is near bulletproof.

So I would like to hear some of you guy's past experiences with the t-56 as I would prefer a manual over an auto, have they given you trouble or preformed admirably?

The 4l60 is far from bulletproof, the 4l80 however is another story. The t56 is a far better tranny than either and yes it is rebuildable. If you really plan on making more than 600hp, get the viper spec t56 with a ls1 bellhousing.

I appreciate your input, it sounded pretty far fetched, like lots of stuff on the internet lol. Just couldn't imagine as many of the lsx/t56 comes through our lube lane I don't think I've ran into one yet that has grinding gears or anything of the sort.

Thanks
