Yello!

so - I downloaded fresh copy of owners manual from nissans website and compared it to some time earlier downloaded version. it has gained a little weight (2.83mb vs 2.74mb), more pages 612 vs 606 and
Printing: February 2023
Publication No. SU23E0 NALLU1

has been updated to
Printing: May 2023
Publication No. SU23E0 NALLU3

sooo - looks to me there are changes.
" The information contained within this supplement adds to the following sections within
the “Starting and Driving” section in the 2023 NISSAN Rogue Owner’s Manual.
• “System maintenance” section of the “Blind Spot Warning (BSW)” section.
• “System maintenance” section of the “Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention (I-BSI) (if so equipped)” section.
• “System maintenance” section of the “Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)” section.
• “Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC)” section of the “ProPILOT Assist (if so equipped)” section.
• “System maintenance” section of the “Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection
system” section.
• “System maintenance” section of the “Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (I-FCW)” section."
is that all? is there something owners should keep in their mind?

I haven't looked, but considering that every single section in your list deals with ADAS functions, my guess would be that someone in Legal decided there weren't enough disclaimers about ADAS and ProPilot not being a substitute for working brain cells. You can't fix stupid, but for a car company lawyer, I'm sure trying anyway is in the job description.

:D
also - recently - local dealerships has started to put 5kmiles on oil change reminder stickers. instead of 7500 as in owners manual... I wonder what is that about - since there are no changes in owners manual :D

People (and some oil change places) put syn-blend oil in T33's even though the FSM calls for full synthetic only. You can't go 7500 on blend in a small turbo engine, it's eventual engicide. I wonder if that dealership isn't cutting corners and not telling anybody.

invoice says 999BK00W20Q - though I think that the tech used some kind of hoses hanging from ceiling.
anyways - good question to ask. want to go over usual leaks and messed up pistons...
overfill as usual...

p.s. this time they managed to set infotainment "data transfer" to "on"... when I asked about it - obviously nothing meaningful came out of his mouth.

That is the right part number for the GF-6A oil. That's what all the latest models call for, so they may well have it in a tank (our dealership does). But in that case, putting a 5K tag on the windshield is funny business, you're right.

I heard once it's impossible to make a 0W oil without it being fully synthetic.

My dealership puts a 5K interval on the reminder tags, apparently supplied by Mobil.

I heard that too, but I don't know if it's true.

Exxon Mobil makes most of Nissan's lubricants, so that's no surprise. Our dealership has printer-roll tags with the dealership name, but not everybody uses a tag printer or wants to deal with custom tags. Places that still scribble almost always get their tags from the oil supplier.

That all said, I do wonder if the extended oil change interval isn't contributing to this parade of grenading Rogue KR's. The KR20's in the Altimas came out with a 5K recommendation and we've never seen the extent of issues with those that we see with the KR15's. I think maybe Nissan screwed the pooch again by trying too hard to reduce that infamous "cost of ownership" figure. It seems like a reprise of the misguided "lifetime fluid" stuff they pulled with the first CVT's, and we all know how that story ended...

If I owned a Rogue (and I won't), I think I'd seriously consider changes at the old-school 3K.

if somebody bothers with oil analysis - that should shed some light... shouldn't it?

Are you volunteering?

I'm sure Nissan does perform some real world testing, but probably back in Yokohama, not at any dealership I'm aware of. The only oil analyses we're ever asked to get are after the failure, and then only when abuse is suspected.

just last week bought cheap oil pan from ebay (I wonder is it possible to somehow authenticate it? because buying it for 40bucks instead of 220 in dealerships seems to be bargain :D
and plan to mess with local dealership business (change oil myself :D

so - yes. I can and will volunteer. (now just need to research whom to send those oil analysis samples)

We use Polaris Labs at the dealership. NAPA also has a good program through ALS Global, not as complete as some others but reliable and much cheaper.

You can't ever hurt anything by pre-filling. It may not help, but if I owned a Rogue grenade, I'd do everything in the realm of human possibility to avoid pulling the pin.

Your comments on the 1.5 Rogue seem to have taken on a darker tone from previous posts. What's changed?

In a few words, a whole lot of grenaded ones. It's become a parade similar to the early CVT's, not a day goes by that we don't have a blown KR15 on a hoist. When they first showed up, they looked on the surface like 3/4 of a KR20, which I still regard as a decent unit. That doesn't seem to be the case even mechanically, and there are also major differences in the KR15 control systems. Maybe it's an accumulation of factors because I can't point to any one thing, but something (or things) clearly went south in the transition to three cylinders. We see way too many blown ones.
