For all of you running a T3\To4e setup, when does it spool up? Also, how is the setup for a daily driver?

I've looked around and see nothing about spool RPM, so maybe the experienced can help me out? Thanks!

there are a few different t3/t04e's out there. typically they average 3500rpms to be spooling. this to me is great for a dialy driver. ill be happy to be spooling by 4000 when i get my new turbo

The T3/TO4E in 50 trim with a .63 Ar exhaust housing is awsome. I can't hardly stay out of boost. In normal city driving you'll feel the boost coming on right as you'll usually shift, basically 3000-3200. But with WOT she's in full song by 3500 at the latest.

You'll have NO REGRETS by using this combo. Plenty of room to grow and turbo lag that is totally exceptable.

You can compare those numbers to the rumors of 2200 rpm spool up and 5500 fade on a T25 or T3, for comparisson sake, not my experience, just what I've read

perfect thread for me to ask.....so the biggest difference between two of these turbos one with .48 turbine and one with .63 is slightly more lag, but much more efficiency at higher boost levels?

sorry for the thread jack...

a/r refers to the size of the housings, trim is the size of the wheel itself. for either bigger=laggier but can flow more.

Hey that sounds pretty cool, dog it around until you want to get boosted and it's right there when you want it. What kind of numbers are you pushing WD?

I've done my homework on these setups, i'll get to where I want (280ish) and then some

As for tuning, I need to learn some. Is it possible to switch back and forth between boost settings, say 6psi for DD and 12psi for some 1-on-1 action, with an SAFC-II?

Consider ~250rwhp the limit for a stock ECU with piggy-back fuel controllers.

You NEED some type of timing control for more than ~240-250rwhp.

So if you're shoting for ~280...It's gonna be 480cc minimum (or 550cc) injectors, S-AFC, bigger MAF, and MSD BTM....or a JWT retuned ECU w/ MAF and injectors.

FYI...

what manifold you have to use for T3/t4oE ,I bought this turbo and have rev hard manifold and it hits strut tower.

I use a RevHard for my T3/T04E...it's a standard Garrett TA34, .63 A/R turbine.

What exhaust housing do you have?

...

The RevHard is best used with an on-center turbo, like the straight T04B offered with the N-Sport kit...but works fine with many other tangetial turbine hsouings...it just makes clearance TIGHT.

hehe...learning more stuff all the time! I need to search more...But back to my question, what kind of boost controler would offer low/high boost/fuel presets?

No fuel presets needed for higher boost...if it's tuned well...the MAF reads all the extra air that's being forced into the motor, and the ECU gives the correct amount of fuel.

The other part of tuning is timing control...keep that in mind. You can be running pig rich and still blow a motor...

Oh...and boost controller.

I like a simple manual boost controoler (and one boost level all the time)...something like the "Joe P".

But many guys on here like the EBC's, like the GReddy Profec B.

What exhaust housing do you have?I have same .63 the exhaust side clears bareley ,but the intake side hits the strut tower right away. I wish it would fit, even clocking turbo does not help. ...

As I said - .63 A/R, standard 4-bolt housing. I use an external wastgate...if yours has an internal wastegate, that could add a little "offset" to the housing (?).

What compressor are you using...a 60-1 or something? Any standard T04E compressor, in .60 or .50 A/R will fit/clear the strut tower.

Could your otor be leaning due to dead motor mounts, or something?

yeah mikesloud, something definitely sounds wrong with your setup if your turbo is actually touching the strut tower with that manifold. Even with a tangential housing you should have a decent amount of space there... I would check your motor mounts like orion suggested.

Do you have any pictures of the setup handy?
