building my s14 sr and was hoping you guys can give me good feed back on a tight budget. I saw a t3/t4 turbo on ebay claiming to push 380-420whp. Does anybody know if this is worth it. please shoot me a line and tell me what you think.

engine goes kaboom. But if u are lucky, hopefully the turbo blows up first before your engine does.

Just do a search on ebay turbos. You'll find all you need to know.

If you are too lazy to search, my answer is no. Turbo is apparently held together with epoxy. hahaha.

Alot of the cheaper ebay turbos use cheap Chinese parts to lower the cost of the turbo. A buddy of mine bought an ebay T3/T4 for his acura. He had it on for two days before it started spewing oil everywhere and stuff. Took it to a turbo repair shop and they charged him $450 to get rid of all the cheap chinese parts.

Save yourself the time and get a decent turbo.

You can buy an actual garrett t3/t04 for not much more than 600.. stick with a name brand.

you can pick up a garrett t3/60-1 turbo for 650$ shipped off ebay. big shaft 360dgree thrust bearing. but to prove a point, a long time a ago on my first car i used a ebay t3/t4 and made 275hp to the wheels on a sohc d16 motor in a civic, 2 years later the turbo is still running strong with the new owner.

I had a gsr-t 94 civic coupe, I ran an ebay turbo for about a year on 10psi and 300 at the wheels, the trick to ebay turbos is to run an oil restrictor. The shop I got tuned at had blown ebay turbos all over the place, but they neglected to run oil restrictors on any of them, so theres your negative feedback, really you should run oil restrictors on all turbos.

So basically if you decide to go with the ebay route, cover your *** with a function7 oil restrictor, and run a -4an line, and you will be set. There are alot of people on here running ebay turbos succesfully, and the king of being cheap, sooooooo many honda owners are running them with no problem in upwards of 500hp.

In the end though, I probably wont be using a ebay turbo in this project, just because im trying to do everything "right"
