I did it on FWD and it was tight, but very serviceable! I think it would much more feasable to just have a manifold made for T3-based turbos and be done with the welding drama. When I had my accident, the turbo was totally destroyed whereas the stock manifold was intact and that was because of the welded T3 flange getting snatched off by it's welds.

Yea it is possible to weld the t3 flange onto the stock CA manifold. I sold this manifold to a guy in Texas and loves it.SEE ATACHED FILE:

basicly its a customer that wants to get off cheap because he just found out his turbo is shot. He bought the car for 1500(with ca swap, greddy bov, ****e intercooler piping, trust intercooler, apexi exhaust with shot exhaust piping) The guy brought the car here and it was smoking a little and the bov did not have a vacume line going to it. I recirculated the BOV, adjusted it and fixed the idle. I take the car out with the customer(this is his first car). He complains about not hearing the "turbo"(means BOV..lol). I step on it and then boom we jar forward like we hit a limiter. I pull over and shut the motor off. I look under the hood and everything seems fine. Under closer examination I notice the previous owner had routed a vacumn line behind the firewall. When i look at this line i notice where it had come apart at a vacume connector. Follow this tube to the wastegate. I am like this car sucks. Put it together again, crank up the car....chattering and smoke all day long. Turbo shot. So now this kid has no job and wants to get off as cheap as possible yet wants more power..so I am trying to mat a t3/t4 with hopefully just welding some flanges and slightly modding his DP. Knowing there is room is a good start..lol

When I got this thing it had a cancerous looking weld between the BOV flange and the intercooler piping and the thing was running like ****. I rewelded the bov, recirculated it, and ran a vacumn to it. I also used a spare Bluebird intake piece(oem from U13) and fitted that on there. Then untangled all the harness wires, bolted his ign. chip down, re-routed wires, and taped them up so it looked decent. When the turbo blows his friend asks if I can just "undo all this" since the turbo blew so they wouldn't have to pay. I only charged like $70.00..lol. It bothers me cuz the guy is being picky, but with no money to be picky with..lol. Thats what you get for a $1500 240sx that has a swap, a mess.

an S14 SR turbo might be a lot easeir for you, or even an S13 SR turbo. Both go right on and would provide a little more power while being cheep.

all that work for $70, I'll bring my car down to you and you can mess with it. hehe

I just towed my SHO I sold on ebay to birmingham, Alabama, so towing my sentra to you would be a piece of cake. But seriously, don't under-sell your skills to know low-budget boosters. We all know this is not easy work and they should pay for your labor or stay aspirated!

Mmm, I agree. While it's very admirable of you to help him out, you do have to make money too, and it is hard work. Maybe some sort of payment plan might work out better for you?

Well I talked to the kid today and told him more or less how much and he asked what i would do. I said T25, because it would be cheaper for him in the long run and he can save up for what he really wants, except do it right. So know i am off to find a t25 good condition, reasonable price..lol.

I didn't realize I was that cheap...lol Try this.. how about $60.00 to install downpipe and exhaust system on a 98 GST? Cheap?, Average?, or Expensive?

We pay money to have fun and to those of us with the skills, can make money from working on others cars to make the money to offset what we spend. It's recirculatory........

Won't he also need a SR down pipe 4 that t28? I don't think the stock DP off the CA will fit. I belive the bolt holes on the flange are a few mm off.

Well I could always just weld a new flange on his current DP, if in fact thats the case. I have never played with a CA before..lol. I actually talked him into the car because I wanted to work on a CA and be part of this car rather than another SR swapped 240. Not that I don't respect SR swapped 240s its just common here.

I belive your right. But it also came on the pulsar. Just 4 future ref. If i where to upgrade to a t28 wouldn't i need a sr20 d/p 4 that turbo. Instead of welding.

ohh I know it came on the GTIR(FWD is what I do...lol) I was just speaking to you RWD guys and gals..lol.

In FWD Nissans we have to custom make DP anyway so I would be assuming here, but...If the flange is all that is differant by a few mm you could in essence weld a flange that would fit your t-28 since it is still a five bolt flange.

the stock CA O2 sensor housing and downpipe work fine with any of the T28's. If you go with an S15 turbo you have to leave one bolt out, that's the only difference.

get a turbonetics T3/T04E 50Trin w/ .50 A/R comp and T31 76 Trim .63 A/R Stage 3 turbine for about $700. and an external wastegate for 250 and thats less than the S15 turbo and can produce more potential power... you will need to upgrade the fuel map, MAF and injectors anyway....

stick it on the OE turbo manifold, and upgrade later,

Since we're on the subject, do any of you know a good place to buy ball bearing turbo's? I think i'll be going in the direction of a t3/t4 hybrid, but I may just go with a t28... I haven't decided yet. Problem is, I can't actually find anyplace that sells ball bearing turbos.

I have no idea where you are getting $1200! Through my connections I can get an s14 BB turbo for $700 brand new. I believe that the s15 bobo is about the same price. Try calling Nissan of Japan :).. j/k. But I do know that that pricing is direct from the factory, so try asking those who live in Japan for pricing.
