I know there was a thread a while back about the differences between the .48 a/r and .63 a/r turbines on the venerable "50" trim T3/T4 turbo, but what about a .48 a/r turbine on a 57 trim turbo?

I'm getting pretty fed up with my T3 super 60, and it just won't hold the boost or flow the amount of air I want it to flow in order to satisfy my power urges (300+ rwhp). Right now, even with the exhaust disconnected (NO back pressure), my T3 super 60 will spike quickly to 14 psi, then immediately back down to 13, then to 12, levelling off at around 10 psi @ 6000 rpm.

I want 15 psi at 6000 rpm, and that's a pretty huge difference compared to what I'm getting now (5 psi intercooled is supposed to be roughly ~50 hp).

I want to keep the internal wastegate set up for now, as I can always convert to external, but the funds are just not here for running an external wastegate set up, so I came across what appears to be a pretty nice turbo on ebay that looks like it'd fit my application without any major (expensive) modifications:

It's a Garrett T3/T4 "57" trim, with a .48 a/r STAGE III turbine, .50 a/r compressor.

I know the .48 won't flow as well as the .63 up top, but my bottom line question is: Will the aforementioned turbo hold 15 psi to 6000 rpm on a built KA (for the record, it has 9:1 wisecos, larger intake/exhaust valves, higher lift cams and a 3 angle competition valve job).

I like the idea of the .48 a/r turbine for daily driving and auto crossing when I finally get around to doing that in the future.

So do you guys think this turbo would be a good match for my power goals (300-330 whp, at around 15-17 psi)?

Thanks in advance.

If you are only debating between using a 0.48 A/R and a 0.63 A/R, then keep in mind, you can simply swap to a 0.63 A/R housing built for the turbine trim you are planning to use later. You would still be able to use the rest of the turbo without having to make any other changes.
