ok so i have a choice right now to buy a t25 from a friend who was running it on an sr for roughly 300 bucks

orrr

i have a t25 in my garage with alot of shaft play and needs an acutator and rebuilding

i looked up the actuators gonna cost around 70 bucks and ive seen kits online for like 80 bucks

i could do that ive seen a huge write up on how to do it but personal experiences on how easy it actually is would be helpful...

i almost would rather just have a professional do it so whats an estimate on the cost of that

im trying to see which would be the best route to go buying the sr t25 and maybe having to have it rebuilt anyway in the future or getting the one i have rebuilt

$900 to rebuild a turbo....wow.......did you happen to get a written estimate from them because if it was going to cost you $900 the there may be more to that turbo than bearings and seals, the turbine and compressor wheels may be damaged, the shaft may be badly scored, they may need to replace the backing plate or the housings

$900 is into the realm of a good aftermarket turbo new.....

for 250-300 including shipping you could send it off to gpopshop and have it rebuilt nice nice.

or you could let your friend rip you off, your choice . if it was a gt28 then jump on it.

I think we've all seen decent condition t25's go for anywhere from 50bux to 150. really depends on how bad the owner wants to get rid of it. but for that kinda money you could buy a fresh rebuilt holset h1c or the like.

On a KA you will want at least a T28, forget the T25.

there isnt much to rebuilding a turbo. the actual pieces that go into the rebuild are two bearings for the shaft, a thrust bearing, and some seals. the kits usually come with new bolts too. just make sure you mark the relation of the compressor wheel to the shaft. you want this to be dead on so that its still in balance when you put it together.
