Nope, but wow is that turbo a spool dog, good info post on how the T78 turbines make power, as in very late in the rpm.-James

That engine really isn't even streetable. It doesn't start making it's real power until 5500+ RPMs. I wonder what the boost feels like on that. It must be a real ***** to drive... just hope the boost doesn't come on in a turn.

I wouldnt worry about the numbers that guy has as being streetable. If you want to have a streetable car then just turn down the boost. Afterall he did get his max HP and Torque at 22psi, I doubt too many people roll around at 22.

That is pathetic. It's a perfect example of what happens when a retard with too much money decides to 'build' a car. Waste of an SR20 if you ask me.:(

why is it retarded? because you dont agree with the power band. maybe he drag races the car. i mean not everyone is into drifting and auto x with there 240. so would you call me a retard because i have a t04r on my ca18det? yeah my power doesnt hit until 5500 either but i shift at 9500. so lets say you have a car with 300 hp and you run a 13.5. now take the t-78 sr and he has like 400 something and runs a 12.4. hes still faster at the end isnt he? just because the power band doesnt suit your application you dont gotta bash the guy.

No, he's a retard for using a t78 and only making 410hp. For that size of a turbo, he should either have a) 2 more cyl or b) a heck of a lot more engine work to support that big of a turbo...I don't even know, maybe he does. If he does, then he's stupid for not even being able to get that car tuned right. You could make over 400hp off of a smaller turbo...that way, you'd have a wider powerband and higher hp. It has to do with proper turbo sizing and tuning, not biggest = best. :thinker

loko at his mods. he has a vpc and a rom tuned computer. thats why he isnt making any more. he went cheap with a standalone he would be making ahella lot more power.

Uhh, no. Why does everyone think that a standalone is so magical? It gives the user ultimate tunability...but it's not going to make that turbo spool any faster. A 2.0ltr 4cly will need to be built to support a turbo this large properly...It's a stupid choice for a turbo, bottom line. ..and that dyno chart is unimpressive to say the least.

Proper turbo sizing...@18psi it makes more power and torque (well, only a little torque) with a broader powerband...and that's not even close to maxing out the turbo.423whp@18psi335ft-lbshttp://web.tampabay.rr.com/ent...i.jpg (hit refresh if page doesn't load)

do you have any experience with engine management? do you know you can control timing maps and fuel maps. by controlling timing you can make a turbo spool faster. besides taht you have TOTAL control over your engines tuning. also what the **** do you mean by properly built. do you mean by stroking the motor to run a t-78? if not and just mean pistons and rods they have no affect on when a turbo spools. if you look he has pistons and rods and cams. if he had good engine management i am willing to bet he would gain alot more horse power. i am willing to bet my car on that.

I know EXACTLY what a standalone does and how it works. Do you really think that adjusting the timing will make that turbo act much differently? If so, you are a fool. If anything, it might be able to spool a few 100 rpm sooner. Timing adjustmant will only take you so far when trying to spool a huge turbo.

I am sure that a standalone will give him more power...I don't doubt that, but how much? If the motor were built (meaning bottom end and top end...stroked or not) that car could run more boost and have a higher redline (extremely important when running a big azz turbo on a little azz motor)...with enough fuel to back it, it would be just fine. The fact still remains...that car is NOT bult and CANNOT make proper use of that turbo. Period.

Also, where are you getting the mods list from?

dude your a straight up idiot. look up top 5 posts. it has the mod list. 1 mm over sized pistons greddy rods greddy 264 cams. geez it look s like its pretty built to me. the onyl way that a "built motor" would change the way it spooled was if the motor was stroked. then you would gain spool time. he should be running a bigger cam profile witha t-78. he shoulda opted for some high lift hks 272 cams with the 11.5 mm lift. have a properly set up ems and i bet he would be in the upper 500 range. my ca should do 550 in march. judging by the past results that shouldnt by a problem.

The motor is not built, sorry. The valvetrain is stock aside from some very mild cams and greddy springs. An SR will need a lot more than that to rev high enough to take advantage of a T78. And no, upper 500hp would not be reached with a stock valvetrain and a tuned ems.:rolleyes Even if it did, it would last all of a few thousand miles. And you called me an idiot because I didn't read some guys reply for mods:rolleyes

standalone can make 9psi of boost sitting still on the line if you want it too. My buddy used to launch his bike at 45psi of boost while sitting still at the tree.

The car is way underfueled IMHO and is making a laughable ammount of power considering I know guys with stock bottom end SR's pushing out over 430rwhp that are daily driven.

That's called an Anti lag system and you'll need a few more parts to make it work (if the ems supports it; not all do).

What turbo is that in the dyno above with the nice fat torque curve? As for what he could do to help himself out to a better power band he could do a couple of things, More compression, More displacement, More revs.Any combination of these things will help make a more usable power band. I'm kinda curious about the boost curve which is kind of a mystery.

really? I thought it was the "manifold danger indicator" kit....

but can it flip my neons on and off AND control my airbags......

And you don't need anything else, my freind did it with his haltech. Just crank up the fuel values and play with the timing and it will make boost sitting on the line, as soon as you get the thing rolling it goes back to 'standard' values and you have boost the whole way down the track. Except he broke a lot of parts launching his car that hard.

It's a new Garrett GT hybrid...kinda like a T3/T4 of the GT series...it's a GT35/40 with a .70a/r on a black top SR20det.

Movingviolation240, yeah you are right, you don't need anything. But you'd be a complete idiot not to buy some supporting parts. Do a little reading on ALS and you'll figure it out.
