system gone wrong

my friend had a system just sittin in his garage... so when i got my 240 i saw that there was system wires already ran in the car. i told him that and he gave me everyting for a little price... i got everyting installed and it worked fine, then my bro blew my amp by moving the wires some how.... anyway i bout a new amp and it was bumping nicely for a bout a week, now i don't know but its not loud and the music sounds like ****. i wonder if my speakers are blown. the sound is horrible i mean there is a bass but its not strong and not clear at all as if there is a bad reception when im playin cds?

Check all the wiring, especially the ground for the amp and HU.

Also, make sure the amp's main power wire (runs to battery) isn't completely corroded. I've seen this happen, and then the amp "tries" to run off the turn on lead and sounds like crap.

What do you have the amp set on? when you first installed the amp did you crank it all the way up?
