I thought I would share this with you, hopefully you'll find it interesting and maybe even helpful.

First I want to say that I am NOT a true "audiophile" and my motivation behind this particular build was to replace a system that I had previously built, but was was completely stolen from my car. The first system I installed was more elaborate and took considerable longer to build as it contained fiberglass sub boxes, and I didn't really know what I was doing. I have photos of that system if you want to see. I built that system simply because I just wanted to have a better sounding system.

With that said, the components may (definitely) NOT represent the best there is out there, but they are better than average and cost efficient, that was all that I was hoping to accomplish. I figured I could always upgrade when I felt the need.

I started off by selecting the components I wanted to use as a basis for the build. In this case I chose a pair of Orion Amps to do the pushing. Model 4004, a 800 watt 4 channel amp for the front and rear deck speakers, and Model 2002, a 400 watt 2 channel am to drive the woofers. The physical size of the amps was a concern because of space limitations and these to units are close in dimension. Both of these amps are on the lower end of the of the Orion product scale and I'm not sure if they are in production any more, although still available through many outlets.

I also knew the Kole 2.5 farad capacitor was somehow going to be a very visual part of the system along with the Audiobahn 10" subs. The subs are really low end and yes, I know they are bling. I am thinking about replacing them with Rockford Fosgate Punch P210S4 series subs.

This system took a long time to develop as I started planning the build. I went through a series of different designs before arriving at the final. The first system I built took into consideration access to the spare, so I tried to design it as a modular system where I could take it apart relatively easily. With this system I was less concerned about that and more concerned about making it easier to build and still look good.

Here a are a couple of the design drawings I made along the way.

Rather than try to explain everything, I'll let the picture do the talking. Here's how the system came together starting with the speaker boxes.

With the angled amp rack.

Here I dry fitted the amp rack on the trunk floor base.

Another dry fit with the cap rack and amps mounted

Finally all together...

That's it... let me know what you all think. Thanks for looking.

Would you mind if I built mine similar to yours? That set-up looks clean as hell.

Haha... noo, not at Slipstream all, I'd be pleased if you did. If I can answer any questions I'd be happy to. Here's a couple of shots of my first system.

Alright, what's the deal with dual +'s and -'s going to your passenger sub? Wired in parallel with the other while each voice coil is wired in series?

Actually the silver is - and I'm using a fused distribution block for visual balance. The subs are wired in series bridged.

Nice work.

I don't like all the wasted space for the amps though. You used a huge amount of airspace for those things.

BTW: This is why your system got stolen last time. You put it on display

Well I looked at bunch of different ways to stack the amps and I suppose there's better ways, but I wanted to get to the end of the project more than I wanted to spend time figuring it out LOL. They caught the kid that stole my stuff, he was a neighborhood punk and they knew what I had. They had brass balls because you gotta come down a long driveway surrounded by walls to get to it and only one way out, same way in... if somebody wants wants something bad enough they'll do whatever it takes... sucks...

Very nice Kaleo. Always nice to see someone doing it right. Too many square boxes sitting in trunks with amps bolted to them.

What software did you use to make those drawings? Those are really nice.
