I recently put an Infinity basslink powered sub in my A/C. Two days later I took it out of my car and put it in my girlfriends car. I decided I need a real system. I went to the basement and dug out some old amps from past cars.

Sub amp - Cadence A5HC 1x600 @ 2 ohms rmsFront Stage – Cadence Z800 2x175 @ 4 ohms rms

I plan on buying a pioneer F series Navigation unit, if the bugs get worked out. My cousin works at best buy so I can get the F900BT for around $700.

The last thing I need are speakers. I have a $400 budget. I have been out of the car audio game for quite some time. The above amps are 6+ yrs old. I’ve done a little research on car audio forums, however I live in a small town and cannot listen to any products. These are some of the combos I am considering.

Components (Doors will be sound deadened) (Open to suggestions)

Rear fillI will use the stock speakers on HU power, or I will have no rear fill.

I want to stick to the $400 budget. So if I get one of the cheaper subs, I can get one of the more expensive components on the list above. I am more concerned with SQ over SPL. I am leaning towards a 10” sub for a smaller enclosure, would like to still use the trunk/spare. I am posting here instead of a car audio forum because I value the opinion of the car audio guys on this forum. Everyone here seems to be nicer and are not pushing certain products for their own agenda. I am also wondering if there will be any issues with installing any of the above components in the doors of the A/C.

Does anyone have an opinion/suggestion on the speakers? Don’t forget to chime in AppleBonker, Vballer, & Doc!!

I'll have to do some research to help more on the components (I've never run component speakers in my car - I jumped right in to running active when I started installing decent stereos in my car, yes I'm crazy).

As far as the sub goes. The IDQ is an awesome sub. The Fi and ED subs are also pretty good. My personal preference would definitely be for one of those three and probably leaning towards the IDQ. Although, I've never heard that particular ED or Fi sub. I've heard the IDQ and was quite impressed. I've heard higher end ED and Fi subs and they were also fantastic. Other than hearing those, I've read VERY few negative reviews on the three I picked out. To be perfectly honest, I think you'd be happy with any of those three. If you're more interested in SQ, they should all work fairly well. If you push any of them too hard, though, they might get a little bit sloppy. Just a matter of tuning them to your taste though.

Sound deadening is always a good idea (IMO). For anyone putting in a stereo, I would highly recommend trying to do this as well (just something to think about). I'm sure anyone who has done this would recommend it as well.

Yeah, the floor of this car was harder to get to than my Civic was. If you're gonna hit the trunk, it would be good to get the back seat as well (since you'll end up needing to take it out anyway). Might also want to get the rear deck. A number of people have heard rattles coming from there without an aftermarket stereo, so that would be helpful. The rear quarter panels (right behind the doors) are very easy to get to and simple to deaden as they are just huge flat pieces of sheet metal. Just for what it's worth.
