I have just over 15K on my 08, 6-speed V. I got a new job where the car sits out overnight, instead of it spending most of it's time in my garage or my old job's parking garage. Anyway it is out in the cold a lot more, and I'm driving 1hr15mins each way instead of less than 4 miles... I've only had MT cars before, and all of them got synthetic fluid in the trans. because of the cold. I finally had the fluid done (at the dealer no less) because the car sounded like hell and felt like something in the driveline was frozen (the super thick trans fluid, duh) Anyway it's completely different now, in the cold it doesn't sound terrible and when it's warmed up it feels like it shifts smoother. I can't say the MPG has changed at all, it doesn't seem like it but I'll keep checking. So long story short, I think it's worth it to replace the original trans fluid with synthetic even if you don't live "up north" like me. (And yeah, I know lots of you Canadians deal with way worse winter than me, I wonder if your vehicles already had synthetic in them as part of cold weather package or something)
