I'm coming up on 15K miles, so my engine is well broken in.

While I'm pretty convinced of the benefits of synthetic, this is the first car I've ever had with such a small service interval (every 3,750 miles) - and with oil changes every 8 weeks it could get costly.

Any thoughts?

How do you use your car?

Do you drive hard, or in extreme temps? Then the synthetic may well be worth it, especially considereng how small the addtional cost really is.

On the other hand, some very good dino's + blends exist today. In normal day to day commuting, you wont see much discernable wear difference (if any).

I still like the peace of mind, of a syn, also I drive my car very hard on (increasingly rare) occasions.

(Insert humorous comment about Fred's unbelievable expertise in the petroleum based world)

In all seriousness, we (NICO) should consider oursleves VERY lucky to have such a humble, free-sharing expert.
