Hi, I'm wondering if my '06 G35 Sedan has too many miles (23,265) to begin a synthetic oil regimen? Do synthetic blends live up to their claims? Thanks!

I use Royal Purple oil...very good product.

Blended oil is ok, but you're better off going full synthetic after the initial break-in period.

I have an 03 and I use Royal Purple with a good quality filter. Has anyone tried the Eneos oil?

I use Castrol Syntec and I love it.....thinking about switching over to the good 'ol royal purple soon though, I hear nothing but good things about it. Nah it's never to late to switch over to full synthetic!

If your car has less than 50k, switching should be ok. The issue is that dino oil seeps into seals and causes them to swell. This is actually a good thing when your breaking-in an engine. When you switch to synthetic, the oil particles are smaller and there is less swelling.

If an engine uses dino oil for most of its life, the theory is that the seals have been is this swelled state for so long that it changes the material's composition to more porous; a change in oil will cause them to fail (leak).

Will this happen all the time, no. But the way I look at it is the added benefit of more protection against breakdown and less friction (more HP), outweigh the cost.
