I put Syn a day after I got my V. I'm up to 3050 miles so far.

Yes, I am running Mobil 1 full synthetic, with the blessings of my dealer and Nissan USA (I called them).I put it in at ~2000 miles on the recommendation of my dealer and several posters here. Everyone agrees that it's not a bad idea to give the engine a few more 'settling-in' miles after the initial break-in period before switching to syn oil.Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

However, contrary to what Nissan Support initially told me, it is NOT PERMISSIBLE to use synthetic gear lube in the manual transaxle on the Versa. This really bums me out, since I already spent ~$50 on Redline Synthetic Fluid.I plan to hold onto it and switch to the Redline after my warranty expires, which appears to be 7 years!

I switched my Versa out to Mobile 1 syn at 1.5K. I checked the oil level the day after it was done to make sure it was properly toped off and the oil was so clear I didn't see it at first.

How often are you guys planning on changing out the synthetic oil, and how does that relate to the warranty?

I orriginally went to switch to synthetic at 3,000 KM, however, after a few calls by the dealership to see if it was okay (and a few differing opinions in the shop) they contacted Nissan Canada who said not to switch to synthetic until 18,000 KM, I, a little over 10,000 at this point, so in a few months I should be switching.

I was changing every 5k miles. As far as the warranty goes, as long as you can prove that you have been maintaining a "proper" maintenance schedule, they can't complain. Since some mfr's have a 7500 mile interval on their maint schedule, they probably won't care about 5k between synthetic changes.

As long as it is an oil that has an API service rating of SL and viscosities of 5W-30 or 10W-30/10W-40 if the ambient temp is above 0 degrees F, you're fine. Synth or dino.

I'll switch to synthetic at the first oil change. I've used synthetic as long as I can remember and always used it during the initial oil change. Many vehicles come from the factory with synthetic already in them.

For those with the CVT: According to the owner's manual, ONLY genuine Nissan CVT fluid NS-2 can be used in the CVT. It states that "using fluid other than NS-2 WILL damage the transmission, which is not covered by the Nissan new vehicle warranty." Not MAY or RECOMMENDED.
