i was wondering if anyone could tell me y synthetic is better for car (brief and general would be fine). I also heard that you shouldnt switch to synthetic if you havnt been running it before because it can cause leaks to start. If anyone could help i would appreciate it. I have a 89 with 150k and havnt used it, wasnt planning on it but should I?

synthetic oil is lighter, and thinner. when you pour it out, it is almost like water, but other non-syn. oils are thicker and pour slower. synthetic oil helps your engine to run a little smoother and faster. the reason it could cause leaks is that it is thinner than non-syn. oil and can go through smaller areas and cracks. generally on higher milage engines. i use it in my 96 with 80K miles and have had no problems.
