fram holds the same 4 letter word down here too. Unforntunely for OEM filter, a while back i heard most of them were beoming made by Fram, so if that was true, i would stay away from OEM.7speed wrote:Where I come from, Fram is a 4-letter word......well you get the idea.
I'd go OEM for replacment filters, but in the end it's your wallet, not mine.
Edit: This is merely opinion based on a consensus of opinions of people more knowledgable than Ion the subject. I have no facts regarding filter performance.
I guess it's a matter of opinion. I've been using Fram filters since my dad taught me how to change oil when I was 5. He always them since they were easy to find at any store. I use them for the same reason, plus I like the grip of the filter (no more wrenches). After changing the oil in 4 family cars, 4 family trucks, the 2 cars and a truck that I've owned, neither on experienced any engine related problems. Most vehicles were pushing 180k before we sold them (when the doors fall off or you bust the rear axle, it's time to sell). I've heard tons of people say to me, "Oh you shouldn't use Fram. They are cheap and you'll have problems." But I find it funny that none of the people that say things like that have any valid personal experience to provide. It's more of "________ told me you shouldn't." Even if they did have a bad experience, my almost 20 years of unproblematic use easily supersedes their experience.7speed wrote:Where I come from, Fram is a 4-letter word......well you get the idea.
Who do you use for oil changes? The store where you bought the K&N (ie. AutoZone)?Ever Victorious wrote:... if I were doing my own oil changes ...
I'm doing it a bit different with my 2nd V. I go to a GM Goodwrench Quicklane and get mobil1... so it's done by a dealership with oem grade filters and mobil 1.Mr_Ed wrote:
