So, I had Infiniti use Synthetic for the latest oil change. I drive 85% highway. What change interval would be suggested?

In my Maxima, with the VQ35DE, I drove the same and kept around a 7k interval with conventional oil and never had a problem in 158k miles. I assume with synthetic I should be able to do the same. Thoughts?

I would keept it around 5K miles. I still change mine around 3500-4000 with Royal Purple.

If you want to have more accurate info, you should consider getting UOA. that is a much better gauge than we do give you. I think its $20 for the cost of it. Blackstone is the one I know of.

What kind of oil are you using?

I believe with the g37 that Infiniti still recommends 3750 miles when using the Esther oil.

Before spending money, spend some time poking around Blackstone Labs' web site. They have interesting things to say about oil life and synthetic versus mineral.

To maintain your warranty, you must do oil changes at least every 6 months or 7,500 miles whichever comes first. Since synthetic holds up better than mineral, that interval should be adequate over the long term. Your driving is easy on the oil. People who only drive a few miles at a time and never get out on the highway need more frequent changes.

I still change mine between 3K and 3.5K with syn. But, I do it myself so it's pretty cheap to do.

However, I do have 4 cars to maintain now.

I have a question for you Mr. SVTCOBRAI bought a 5 qts bottle of syn oil, and took my car to an independent garage to get oil changed. He gave me back the bottle still has some oil in it and he told me my car didn't need all 5 qts oil, was that true?

mine has always taken 5 quarts.Maybe they did it on an incline. Or, didn't wait long enough when draining it.Did they change the oil filter???If it was less than 1 quart, I wouldn't worry about it, but would check my oil! Make sure you check it cold or after the car has sat for at least 30 min.

It should always take 5 quarts. Not 4.5, not 5.4, not 4.987. 5 quarts. Five. Cinco. The square root of 25. 5And Matt, Intervals are all dependent on 3 things: 1-How you drive2-How cheap you are3-How clean you want the motor running (with its respective efficiency) You can go 5k or 6k without any serious issues. I change my oil every 2000 miles since it is gratis for me...But If I was a regular person running Ester or Synthetic in my V36, My intervals would be 5 months or 5000-5500 miles. still waiting for your email...

square root of 25 could be -5, but I got the message, I am going to check the oil now.
