Interesting that they only had to add 3.5 quarts of make up oil [in 0.5 quart increments] and additives to get to 11,000 miles. At 12,000 mile they added 1.5 quarts then the whole sequence started over with 0.5 at 14k &15k &17k finaly retiring the oil at 18k.

So in 18k they added 6.5 quarts and changed the filter once at 12k!

So all one can say is on a 10k to 28k 346 V8 GM engine this worked.

As we all know from Statics 101 we would need to do the test on 25 identical cars before we could be assured it would work!

I don't know if this tells us anything about high mileage engine and the oil intervals as they added 2 makeup quarts thru the 6k sampling.

The only way would be to measure all bearing clearances at start of test and at end of test to measure the actual wear and find the critical spots.

2 quarts of oil after only 6,000 miles tells me things [clearances] are pretty loose to begin with. No wonder GM engines are designed for 100k not 300k.
