I learned that MT-90 is best for trannys and i was wondering what is the best weight and brand of oil for the ka motors. I want my motor to last because i just replaced the clutch and flywheel. I was thinking valvoline synthetic blend 5w-30.

Conventional oil is ok.

Full synthetic is good.

Synthetic blend is ok.

If I add a drop of wine to a cup of sewage, I have sewage. If I add a drop of sewage to a cup of wine, I still have sewage. The point is that by blending a synthetic with a conventional, you get only the quality of a conventional with the price near a synthetic.

Run either conventional or synthetic, there is little to be gained by using a blend.

Same goes for mid-grade fuel. It is commonly blended off the low grade process. Premium tends to be a separate blend. At least in California.

I've got a KA with about 100K miles on it. I run Valvoline Synpower, 5w30 in the winter and 10w40 in the summer. No problems, leaks, etc.

I heard that if your car has more than 50k on it then you should use a synthetic blend at least for 3000 miles before going to full synthetic. Synthetic cleans better so if you have ran regular oil in your engine for 50k or more your engine will have gum built up in side. When the synthetic cleans all that gum at once it could possibly clog oil lines or your oil pump. He said to use a blend for at least 3000 miles before i go to full synthetic so the blend will clean it a little. A mechanic told me this so i will probably take his advice a run the blend for at least 3000 miles. Just to be safe.
