Hey guys:

Anyone know of an overhaul kit or parts that can be used to change the synchro's in an RB25 transmission? I think I found one, but the synchro's are grinding.

Should be able to use the 300SZ parts for the synchro and small parts.

What about the RB20 Transmissions, are they the same as the KA Internally?

I believe the gear ratios are the same and I know the output shaft is the same. The driveshaft I had made fits perfectly in the KA transmission. I believe the guts should be the same also...maybe just the bell housing is different.

THE SIZE IS EXACTLY THE SAME, THE DESIGN IS THE SAME, THE BELL HOUSING IS THE SAME ON THE KA24E EXCEPT FOR THE MOUNTING DOWELS ARE ABOUT 1 INCH OFF. THE YOKE IS THE SAME THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE TAILSHAFT/OUTPUT SAHFT GAURD IS DIFFERENT (WHICH YOU CAN SWAP THEM BACK AND FORTH ANYWAY. I'LL HAVE MY transmission GUYS ATAKE A LOOK AND SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO WHEN I FINISH MY ENGINE PROJECT.

The SR20,KA24,VG30E,CA18,R20 all share the same transmission type that is a FS5W71C. The Z32 300zx and RB25 share the same transmission type that is FS5R30A which a bigger and beefer transmission. The synchros are the same.

Thank you! Now that's what I like to hear---someone with hard and fast information to share!

++++ Hi Jacking alert ++++

Scott, are you the Scott with the white 240SX that made the IASCA circuits? If so, someone in the audio forum could use pics of speakers in the side armrests if you have any lying around :) The only one I could find was real small.

Thanks

There's another thread on trannies that covered them almost exhaustively.

The RB20 and KA24 trannies are NOT the same size at all (I measured both side-by-side). The bellhousings are the same length, but different bolt patterns.

The internals may be the same, but externally the trannies are different by a few inches and the shifters sit in different locations. Shifters are interchangeable tho.
