ok so what would a bad DET sensor do?? would it cut fuel at a certain RPM range? i know im going to pull ECu codes tomorrow.. anyone want to help elaborate how to do this i have the FSm but i like to hear how other people are doing it so i make sure to do it correctly !

no, the det sensor rolls back timing to curb detonation.

as soon as it sees knock irregardless of RPM

The Det sensor switches to a different ignition map in the ECU (there are 2 in CA ECU'S), and only the timing in the on boost section is rolled back(i looked it up in the maps), it's not related to rpm, it only has effects on the on boost performance (the parts in the maps with off boost are the same).

could this trigger boost fuel cut prematurely if the ECu is runing on the safer fuel map.. im hitting boost cut very quikly

The DET switches into the low maps that's right, the fuel cut is only related to the MAF signal (as far as i know) and the low fuel map is richer in general(to be on the safe side), and in the low ignition map the timing is also retardet(to be on the safe side), i would assume from this that the ECU trys to optimise a DET signal with giving more fuel/retard ignition to reduce knocking and this shoudn't hurt the boost cut.
