When they light up, they're a crisp amber, compared to the stock egg yolk yellow color.

Personally, I prefer the plain jane long life bulbs so I don't have to worry about replacing them often but each to his own.

Indeed, when an 1157 or 1156 burns out, it's a couple bucks to replace. I've only replaced one rear bulb in over two years. They are bright enough for me. Simple design and cheap to replace.

Some people like to nickle and dime themselves to death with little insignificant mods. Let them. Some spending in this economy isn't a bad thing.
