It's an econocar with a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder engine. It doesn't need Royal Purple at all. Save your money. Mobil1 or any other cheaper synthetic will do just fine. Even regular oil will do fine. Expensive oil such as Royal Purple is not necessary at all. My dad's been running Supertech (Walmart brand) synthetic in his 2000 Silverado for 90,000 miles and it still runs like brand new and doesn't burn any oil. If a V8 Silverado that has even towed a few cars is just fine without Royal Purple, so will the dinky engine in your Versa.

I changed at 7000 miles to a blend of Royal Purple, Mobil 1 extended service, Kendall Synthetic blend and Mobil 1 (0 w 30). I am now at 9000 miles and the last tank was 34 mpg. Do not worry about trying different oils (but be sure to change them) and know that MOST of the people in the world don't have a clue about what their oil is doing.

Royal Purple is more meant for the high performance engines. But it cant hurt to put it in a V. Do it

You do realize you're not supposed to blend different brands of oils right? Each company has a different mixture of detergent and oil bases used in their final product. Mobil 1 would have a certain mixture designed for just that oil. Royal Purple has certain detergents designed to work with just that oil.

Mixing different brands could lead to negative effects that will cost you money down the road. Just mixing RP 10w40 with RP 10w30 isn't an issue. Royal Purple has certain additives and detergents unique to the brand. Mixing RP and RP won't pose any problems.

As far as RP in a Versa? Sure, it won't hurt, but it's a little overkill. RP is a synthetic designed for high performance engines. You should be fine with a synthetic blend or a synthetic from Castrol or one of the "other" synthetics.

I believe Royal Purple is used for high performance engines that take a beating such as drag racing. Decide if the Versa's engine fits that...

Pennzoil Platinum seems to be a good synthetic and Mobil1 has a new 0w-30 fuel saving oil. I haven't tried it yet seeing as how I'm having to sell my Versa but I'd give that a shot and see if it makes a difference. It's probably only a 1 mpg difference if that though.
