Switching to aftermarket coil and ignition

Has anyone used an aftermarket MSD coil w/ a 7 series ignition on a KA24DE? Anything I need to keep in mind or problems I might run across?

Can I use an S13 distributor on an S14 KA24DE?

Obviously, I would have to have a separate coil. Do I have to do it this way, or can I simply bypass the built-in coil on the S14 distributor?

Don't worry about it Red, nobody knows this one...not even Dauntt...because I don't think anyone's ever done it.

I'm just going to order one from a junk yard tomorrow and find out for myself.

Actually someone in socal is running an external coil. I know he made mods to the stock distributor, but I think he may be using an S13 cap now. Don't quote me on it though, I am not entirely sure. I'll try to find out more details...

I got my S13 distributor and they look almost identical...the shafts are identical lengths and have the same number of teeth...so it looks like it will work.

Problem is...I don't have the FSM for an S13...only the S14.

SOMEBODY with an S13 FSM w/KA24DE PLEASE tell me what wires do what. Need that info to wire it to my standalone!!!Looks like there is one white wire and three black ones.

I am running MSD SCI with a blaster SS coil right now, Im not sure on the differences to the 7 series, but the sci was a very simple install, I have it all mapped out with pictures if you are ineterested. Mine is installed on a s13 with the DE engine. Its really nice in the top of the RPM band. If you need help with the install email [email protected]

Problem is I'm using a standalone that was designed for GM and Ford ignitions and doesn't have very good instructions.

I don't have the schematics, but it has been documented before, just not on this forum. I had a copy but can't find it right now. It's a drop-in with minimal wiring IIRC. Remember, there are other sources out there.
