Switching steering column

ok, my ignition switch is busted and instead of going through with self shear screws and all that junk, I decided to go get an entire column ($80 CDN from the junker) but as I was falling asleep a couple days ago, I realized that putting a column from a 1990 into my 92 would disable my HICAS, I would be putting the whole ignition from the 90 into my car, but not the rest of the column, it's just easier to take the whole column, and would be putting my 92 steering wheel on it as it looks better and I like the position of the cruise buttons more, so If anyone could tell me how I could do this without messing up my HICAS, if it is possible at all, or if this process will have nothing to do with my hicas at all. why would the steering wheel and column affect the HICAS operation? i thought the HICAS gear was only pertaining to the gear box on the steering rack, the P/S pump, lines, rear lines and distributor and whatnot . . . nothing to do with the steering shaft. somebody correct me if i'm wrong here . . .

the only reason I posted this is because I read a thing about a guy putting a universal racing wheel on, and it supposedly disabled the hicas, I geuss you can't trust something 1 person says happened, but I just wanted to make sure this can't happen. And again, the steering column will be coming out af a 89 or 90 and be put into my 92, I don't know if this would bring up a problem or not.
