I bought this 94 j30 a couple of months ago. 117K, new tires, brakes, belts, hoses. Paid $1100. Radio wasn't working - not a fuse problem, juice getting to unit. Question is: Guy at work has a factory unit he swapped out of his 2006 Nissan Altima he'll sell me for $75. Is it as simple as getting a harness adapter and plug an play? Also thanks to the one who suggested BG Quick Clean to quiet a ticking noise coming from the engine. Worked great! Found the stuff at NAPA - sold behind the counter.

i replaced my 93 stereo with one from a 99 Pathfinder. all you need to do is get the conversion harness and you should be good to go.

I'd have to see the back of the 06 unit, and is it the standard "double DIN" shape? The 00-02 (or so) Maxima's had wierd shapes fronts and didn't fit.

If nothing else get the adpater and see if he'll let you see if the adpater will plug into the back of it?

The wiring should plug-in. However, $75 gets you far into a modern head unit that'll take MP3 discs.I don't know about how it'll fit the dash opening.
