My car has about 72000 miles on it and I think its been using mineral oils until now. I wanna switch to synthetic. Would that cause oil leaks?

No.

Interestingly note that the MOBIL1 30 weights (0w-30,5w-30,10w-30) run thin for their declared viscosity classes.(manufacturers are allowed a range and MOBIL1 is on the thin side)

So I would caution, that if switching to MOBIL1, the possibility may be a bit more real, simply as a function of viscosity, if you are currently running a 30 or greater.

In general I recommend thicker grades.

All the details are here in a thread, asking about J30 oil, an engine out of the same design house as your 240Sx engine(s):

Please click the link, it includes some info, as well as collects a couple of other real relevant links about oil choices

I have switched several high mileage cars that used 1 quart every 2000 miles and I have had no significant increase in oil usage.
