To perform the switchblade transition do I need a dealer? I've heard talk of a chip in the key. Is it in the electronic portion of the remote? ---If so, I would just need a locksmith to cut my key and I'd be set?

My keys are definitely original. They changed by year, obviously. Thanks for clearing it up.miamiheat3332 wrote:nope sbk you have the originals, mine look exactly the same and i bought mine new.
Also 2 other family members have 03 maximas, keys look exactly like that too.
SO, towncivilian, either the keys were made different depending on your MFG date, or you have a copied key.
