I was wondering what you need "if possible" to make the G50 manual.

"Maual"?

Ah, what a difference a consonant makes! But aren't you in fact speculating on "switching" a manual transmission into an automatic transmission car?

Wes is doing a 5-speed swap using primarily 300zx parts.

I'm doing a 6-speed swap using 350z and Maxima parts.

As far as a basic parts list, you'll need the following items:

Manual transmission Flywheel Clutch kit Clutch master cylinder Clutch slave cylinder Clutch lines Brake pedal Clutch pedal Driveshaft Adapter plate Center console parking brake lever Center console parking brake cables Lots of bolts and elbow grease

The list above should get you started.

Mmmm.......maybe becasue Elwesso who has been tinkering with on G50 for a few years is about 3 weeks overdue? It is not an easy task, or someone would have done it by now, 18 years after the car first appeared.

main reason I havent made any progress is because I had to leave the car at school. in a couple weeks im going to go back and get it and continue the project.

I am sure you will still be the first. Maybe even the only.

And I'll be waiting for everyone's write-ups so I can see what works and what doesn't. I'm not in a rush to be the first! My Q will be manual in a year or so.

That's what they said about the turbo..... it'll get done. Hurry Wes, then you can come help me with my swap!

A friend who owns a transmission shop said he's got a Supra manual transmission we should put in my Q, anyone familiar with the Toyota trans. and it's feasibility for this application?

I don't see anything more daunting than usual with the Q as far as conversion goes. It's the same as converting any other auto to a stick. Trans tunnel mods, adding a clutch pedal, changing all the same basic things you would with any other car. I'd be willing to bet somewhere on this wretched earth someone is rolling a G50 stick. We just don't know about it. Anything is possible given the right experience, knowledge or checking account. Converting anything from an auto to a stick or vise-versa is a pain in the you know where.

Some people make Q mods sound like rocket science, but this is just a car like millions of cars made before and after it. Subject to the laws that apply to all cars everywhere. There is no special exception to the Q, the laws of physics it does not defy. Modding ANY car is a risk, and sometimes ends in less reliability and reduced build quality. We aren't all Chip Foose or Troy Trepanier and have Bill Gates' bank account. Anything you can do to any other car you can do to the Q. It may be more difficult somewhere, and easier elsewhere. Could be more expensive than some, cheaper than some, more or less time consuming. Don't let pessimists bring you down. If you have the money or time or experience/any combo of the three you can do it.

I think it's been done. It's not pretty, but it's done. I think Midnight_sliding has one that he drifts in.
