Anyone have this? I've been thinking about it since I hate front plates and in NY they are required. This would be a quick push of a button while a cop is pulling me over and then hilarity would ensue as he scratches his head wondering why he stopped me :naughty:

I remember someone saying they would measure the clearance of the center spacing on our bumper but I don't think it ever happend. If you get try to make sure it doesn't smack your bumper like in the video.

Yeah, just gotta do a better job of installation. He says in the description that he added a strip to pad it to keep it quiet.

I might just do this. Need to look at our bumper to see if I can do it above the grille instead of at the very bottom of the bumper (would have to cut the little deflector that is there).

This is actually more for if I go to the 08+ bumper. If I do, definitely not ruining the look of that beautiful front end with a stupid yellow front plate. Black doesn't look too bad with the new NY plates but I still hate em. This law is right up there with tint laws for me...all they are is a revenue system for the local municipality or a reason to perform traffic stops and find other things (not that I have to worry about anything else since I don't drink, do weed, etc. lol).

I wanted to get this done last year but was told that the part would not fit. I don't want it under the lip.

the manual one may work but the one with the motor is longer, I think they told me 1.5" longer.

The 06-07 M's has a type of rod that sits behind the bumper, can this part be removed or bent in order to install the new plate???? :gotme

I spoke to Oneighty in NY, I was given a price of $400 (parts & labor) for the 2006 M45.

I dont see why anyone in an M35 would need to bend or remove any bar or whatever out of the way to make this fit. We have tons of room in front of the engine since our's are only 6 cylinders. The bumper area looks like it would have plenty of room too judging from this pic on the internet.

I am doing some work around that area this Friday, I can take clearance measurements on the car if people want me to in order to see if there is a 10" deep area of clearance

So I took another look and what I see is part of the radiator support which runs down the center of the radiator.

I only have 9" and I need 10" for it to work. Can it be done? yes with a little cutting.

What about coming out of center like more towards the edge of the bumper?

Yet, if I don't have a plate at ALL, I can't be arrested. Just a ticket. Go figure.

This state f'in sucks. I need to man up and make the move to FL like I have been saying I will for years. New York is one of the worst states in the country, IT job market not included.

Also stay out of nyc bridges and tunnels they have cameras....they even pulling people over for having tinted covers over their license places + plate covers that are clear that if a red light camera takes you picture it comes up blank.

I am currently waiting for the release of the(NY-DMV )brooklyn nets Vanity plates. They are black + white and they go perfect with your car and my mines.

I understand now

But I would be scared of not only losing my plate but the kit too.

I think it''s best to have the kit on hand to see what would work best.

I would only do this if I switched to the 08 bumper...do it all in one 'mod'. If I go lip kit, I'll just leave the plate. It doesn't kill me, but I would *prefer* to have no front plate.

@ IlyaKol..also with that mod if you park your car and leave your plate hidden. You will get a ticket.

So many people freaking out about "oh youll get a ticket". It is illegal to not have a front license plate here in California too, yet I see plenty of cars without them. Pretty much every BMW for the last few model years does not have a front plate installed at all. I myself have run with no front plate for over a year now with no problems. Police definitely see me and no one cares at all. My turn signals are also illegal according to spec and plenty of police have seen those on my car and not cared in the slightest either. So ya you can run the risk of a ticket if you do this mod, or if you just remove your plate completely, and that would be on you. But really the chances of such a ticket are pretty rare.
