CA18DE fully built by Tomei, including its stroker kit bumping it up to 2L. 288° Tomei Cams. Metal headgasket, rings, etc. all rebuilt by Tomei! Awesome carb manifold, headers, tuned computer, and MDI ignition:D

Very nice but the color absolutely blows. Love the idea of a CA20DE.

it takes a ballsy motor to wear that fruity color.

I'd say that it has balls so big it has to walk bow-legged. That's sweet.Btw- With the Stroking...does it lose alot of it's rev-happy nature? What's the final Bore x Stroke?

pfft, it's just a DE, no turbo, it can suck my balls for all I care.

However, Tomei is my one stop shop for all my 9k RPM needs, well, half of them, the other half is across the street at JUN,

I'd go to JUN before Tomei personally. They cover it all.

CA18DS, I believe that's the correct factory designation for a DOHC carbed engine.

Seen factory GA16DS's then there's the SOHC carbed E16S. Of course that is no factory engine.:ylsuper

CA20 kit has an 88mm stroke. A mill like that with high compression and good carb tuning could lay down over 200hp, I did 150 with a bone stock CA18DE using just an HKS air filter, full exhuast and an SAFC. Car thought it was fast or something:pface

lol. Is it possible to get a det carbed or is there no reason or benefit to it? I just know 4AG's are bad *** with quad carbs but then again they are N/A

I just know 4AG's are bad *** with quad carbs but then again they are N/A
I own 2 nasty 4G63 JDM high compression motors and have them both in my 93 & 95 elantras. "themadscientist" do you ever see the old Galants done by AMG? I heard they do 15s in stock form in those Galants; and seeing that my Elantras weight a few hundred pounds less, they'd do a bit better? But there is no benefit to carbureting a DET engine since it already came with a decent fuel injection system.

Galants rule, I had 3 Galant vr4s and one Galant GS-X(AWD N/A) It took me 3 years to find a AMG grill for it. The AMG motors were supposed to put down 160 or so stock, Ti valve springs and or retainers. Once agaon, I love Galant VR4s.lol Too bad the AMGs were front wheel.

Nope never seen an AMG Galant but I have had freinds who had VR4s, nice cars. I always like them better than the Lancers, less flashy.

i cant remember where, but ive seen a amg vr4 for sale. i think it was a custom job by amg but it was awd and had the 4g63 putting down about 240hp. black on black, it was awesome. 12 grand i think it was, oh and it was still over in japan to boot.

Quote »The AMG motors were supposed to put down 160 or so stock, Ti valve springs and or retainers.
The AMG models put out 170hp and the model below it puts out 160hp. But my 160hp 4G63 seems to be running better than the AMG cyclone motor with the funky intake manifold w/butterfly valves. And since I'm having trouble getting the AMG ecu to work with my Hyundai Elantra wiring harness, I use the ECU out of the Hyundai Sonata and it all works just fine. I think the ecu from the lower compression Sonata runs the engine harder timing-wise because the 160hp Elantra pings when you give it a good thrashing on a hot day. I justy recently swapped the AMG motor in on 1/8/04, so I'm still sorting the bugs out including having to get my A/C lines redone (sucks). I always loved the Galants as well! I called them "Big/sexy";) .

Ummnm, All Galant AMGs were FF/NA. There was a guy I knew up in jersy that had the full AMG body kit on a VR4, But like I said all AMGs were FF/NA. it could have been a fake becosue alot of GVR4 guys in Japan put the plug covers on there VR4s. They were very low produtin, Somthing like 1400. And yes before someone asks this was before AMG was bought by benz. They also tunes early colts/mirages I think in like the mid 80s. I miss my VR4s, One guys coming to buy one this weekend and the other ones almost parted out. And for the record, I dont see how your NA motor came with a dual runner cyclone intake, They came with intakes just like the US turbo/NA but with a cyclone label on them. I dont think a N/A motor could run the cyclone becouse its actavated by boost and the ECU. I think I still have one chilling in my garage.

Its had to get the fuelling spot on with a carb and turbo setup, sacrifices have to be made, but saying that a set of twin 50's is a beautiful site. :D

I never said it had the dual intake runners as I am very familiar with most Mitsubishi powerplants and the 4G63 is a regular on my list. My intake has 4 butterfly intake valves (1 in all 4 runners) which is controlled via a power valve canister and a power valve actuator. ANd the intake does say Cyclone on it, but does not look like it's american counter part in my other Elantra. There are a few variations of this motor that carries the same high compression bottom end as well. Anyway back to CA18DET stuff, they seem to use the electrics on this Tomei engine for control of spark and timing, huh?
