I honestly don't know how much lower my car is from stock. Do you have an SR? If you do, Circuit Sports sells this like oval shaped downpipe that tucks up higher than the frame rails. Do it.Metal Angel wrote:Alright so I guess I got another question about your ride height. How high off the ground is the bottom of your door in the middle? I read a post somewhere else about some guy (dont remember who it was so I have no proper reference) who had an s13 coupe and he had a picture of a tape measure from the bottom of his door in the middle to the ground and it read 5". Last night I got curious and went out to my car and measured how high my door is at stock height (I have a hatchback but I assume its pretty much all the same down there) and it is 10.5" from the ground (I literally get bloody noses while driving) then I stuck my tape measure under my car at the lowest point to see how much clearance I have. It's 4.5" inches of clearance under where the downpipe turns horizontal (not sure what to call this little section of exhaust... Im still a dummy with cars) Anyway... do the math. To get the bottom of my door down to 5 inches I would have to lower my car 5.5"! I only have 4.5" of clearance at factory height! That section of exhaust will be one inch underground! WTF am I missing here? And how much did you lower your car from stock height?
It's cool as long as you're helping.gnvarnadore wrote:you know more than just lowering the car pays into ride hide right? the rims and tire choice play into it as well. my car is lowered on tien coilovers and my front bumper with lip is less than 3 inches off the ground, the center of my door is about 5.5 inches and my rear bumper is about 6 inches off the ground and i dont have side skirts like he does. i dont know about dudes setup vs. mine but you are giving it too much thought, these after market companies dont make parts to f up your car. do you have an SR with an after market down pipe or what? cause im still running a stock KA. your exact setup would be helpful in answering your question and if im thread highjacking my bad.

The back of my can is flattened, the bend under the subframe is flattened, my resonated testpipe is dented and flattened, the flanges from test pipe to stock downpipe looks like it's one piece, and the stock dual downpipe thing is dented to s***. After a while, the parts that do scrape won't scrape anymore due to them being flat.lonely_coupe wrote:^^ easy. you slam the s*** out of your car, and scrape all that exhaust off. i do it daily.
Single slammin KA manny transmission. Bone stock except for my wheels which are stock size. I have 195 60 15 tires. And yes, I do realize that more than just spring height plays into ride height. The point is that the distance between the bottom of my door and the lowest point on my car is 6 inches. That being said the lowest I could get the bottom of my door to measure out would be 6 inches... and that would be scraping even when I dont hit uneven pavement.gnvarnadore wrote:you know more than just lowering the car pays into ride hide right? the rims and tire choice play into it as well. my car is lowered on tien coilovers and my front bumper with lip is less than 3 inches off the ground, the center of my door is about 5.5 inches and my rear bumper is about 6 inches off the ground and i dont have side skirts like he does. i dont know about dudes setup vs. mine but you are giving it too much thought, these after market companies dont make parts to f up your car. do you have an SR with an after market down pipe or what? cause im still running a stock KA. your exact setup would be helpful in answering your question and if im thread highjacking my bad.

I am inclined to say you are riding too low.fourLUG_hero wrote:Hit some sort of weird lump of road on 38 and broke my steering rack on tuesday. FML.
I don't want to admit it but I think I am too low.Metal Angel wrote:

did you lose control when your rack broke?
I think of it like this: F*cked rack = NEW BETTER rack. Plus it gives me an excuse to install my Tein inner tie rods and get an alignment. And I might just go mrgreeneyes and get the PBM knuckles.240less wrote:saw the pic and thought you had some serious angle, but that sucks.
PUUUSYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!fourLUG_hero wrote:I don't want to admit it but I think I am too low.
Thanks, bromosexual.xrproto07 wrote:Sick stance mang
Definitely changing my mind on these wheels, I mean I have seen them on a few car's and none really come close to how you've pulled them off bro....inspired me to think outside the box
Yup, bought a hicas rack from somebody in Vegas. Sent payment last night actually.ILoveMyRHS13 wrote:PUUUSYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
Just kidding, you're lower than me.
Seriously, though, go HICAS rack, PBM knuckles (they will eliminate bump steer, which is what killed your rack) and keep the awesome 4 lug.
I know I'm an idiot for driving around this low in NJ, but I do enjoy getting at redlights.hbpignosePA wrote:yea breaking s*** isnt worth the look
in my opinion
then again i'm usually pretty logical
It's cool. It'll be out and about by next week hopefully. Hopefully it doesn't get TOO cold.ZX88 wrote:sweet knuckle mod.jk sucks to hear about the steering rack.
Taking it out took half an hour. In which 10 mins of that was jacking the car up and putting on jackstands. When I put the new rack in, am I supposed to make each shaft equal length to the other?240lookis wrote:my steering rack was leaking when i got the car.pretty easy install but be careful with screwing the fluid lines into the rack, i almost stripped mine.
It's a single jingle, what could you POSSIBLY need to see? Lol.NismoZRS wrote:let me say first that your chuki coupe is an inspiration for my chuki coupe .. hah but anyways i was wondering if you could post a pic of your engine bay???
I never rubbed, really. Only time I used to rub was at full lock at first then the rubbing magically went away?pandapants wrote:I must know, how was the clearance with 215/40? Rub much on bumps or turns?
The coupe gets sold in a couple days hopefully. My first priority is getting the wheels in since they're a 6-8 week wait.ZX88 wrote:updates on obtaining a hot hatch. 215/40 have loads of clearance with camber and rolled fenders.
Wow... There is no S14 chuki. These skirts were from the 'middle/Chuki' model of the 180sx. 180sx kouki skirts are different and i don't think there is a 180sx Zenki side skirt.jdm_dean wrote:where do they come from exactly? oem s14 chuki skirts?
