now that we are on the brink of an endlink group buy...i am also upping my swaybar..however i have heard...that sometimes you can over stiffen the rear with these two mods...links and bars,,and even cause the sway bar to fail under the tightened stess and ....SNAP...i wanna know from the inforum experts about this phenom....and if a stiffer bar and link combo is unadvisable...

hey guys,

I hope you don't mind me chiming in on this one but suspension setup is kind of my favorite part of a car.

The only way that it is possible for us to make too stiff of a sway bar is if it is too stiff for the driver's taste. When developing sway bars the manufacturer needs to be very careful about what they are trying to offer to their customer's. It is very possible to offer a bar that will be too stiff and not suitable for street use. However you would have to make the bar ALOT stiffer than factory in my opinion.

Now on Josh's car we went too stiff on both the shocks and sway bars. He didn't like it, but I LOVED it. It all comes down to personal taste. I felt like it was perfect for my short 7 mile commute to work, he thought it was too stiff for his 32 mile commute. Which makes sense. The good thing about Josh's setup for the G35 coupe is that the sway bars offer different adjustment settings. Also Josh is running the Tokico D-spec adjustable shocks. When we stiffened the sway bar I also convinced him to stiffen the shocks . Obviously it didn't take long for him to think it was too stiff so we backed off both the shocks and sway bars. With a medium setting on the sway bar and semi-stiff setup on the shock he is now happy with his ride.

When developing a sway bar that is non-adjustable and is designed to improve the handling without sacrificing ride quality we do stiffen the bar but not to the point where it offers a horrible ride.

Now, here is the combination factor. This would be a GREAT setup. It would offer the owner complete adjustability to dial in his suspension exactly the way he wants. Do you want your bar a little stiffer? Crank on those end links. Do you want it softer? again, adjust the links. I highly doubt that you could over stiffen our sway bars to the point of failure as they are very strong. We actually manufacture sway bars for some of the biggest suspension companies in the world.

my vote= do both and enjoy playing with the settings!

(edited because my initial post looked like jibberish...I can't believe you guys could understand what I was trying to say haha.)

thanks kyle... considering the intake and exhaust for will add minimal HP and there is no headers/turbo right now it is looking like my mods will begin with the suspension/handling... the weather is wonderful in NY its time to get stuff done... sway/links/springs/tires/wheels... im gonna be a stage 5 clinger... to the road that is

Good write up, quick question. I see that the end links can be adjusted by turning the middle rod. As far as the setting goes, can you elaborate how it works? i.e. what does it do if we make the end links longer? and shorter?

btw, is there gonna be a gb for the sway? if not ima order soon.

Double D beat me to your question...

But I can help with the second question. As of right now I do not see the sways going on special. We just ran a special last month with sway bars and the Altima sways were excluded because they are so new. Speaking of specials I will be posting up a special that will excite at least 24 members of the forum haha.
