I have a stock sway bar and an sr with the stock oil pan for now. I am going to be buying a tomei or moroso oil pan soon and i am trying to figure out how to get my sway bar to sit further away from the pan without raising the car.

When i had the car set at a decent height the sway bar was far away from the pan so this worries me that when i hit a bump it will be bashing into my pan while i'm driving.

Is there any custom end links that could fix this? Or is there any other sway bars that would sit differently? Ive been thinking of cutting and welding in more solid steel to move that crossbar towards the front of the car. However that will be a last resort and hope to find a better solution.

Sorry for the mediocre pics

Have you driven it like that at all?? My VG pan in my S12 is way closer then that. It's so close to touching it.

I have not driven it yet since im still doing work on the motor however i know it will hit if not with the stock pan it definitely will hit the tomei one and i do not want that happening.

A friend of mine has a Greddy pan and his sway bar bashes his pan and i think his sway bar is a little further away than mine. I really do not want any contact there at all.

it shouldnt move forward backward

just the endlinks should flex

move the mounting point forward with a bracket of some sort

Yeahhhh reading this thread I'm like wtf. Check the mounting points. If it's moving either the bushings are raped, or a mounting point is broken. Solid motor mounts would assure that s*** wouldn't move, btw.

oh i see so the sway bar should not move at all not even under spring/coilover compression when hitting bumps on the road? I figured it would move back toward the pan under compression mainly because when you lower the car it moves back towards the pan.

So you are saying that it should not move forward or backwards at all during any type of driving?

they make a bar that clears LS1's, so your little SR20 shouldn't be a prob

Thats pretty rad a**. That would work im sure as long as it dosnt hit the nismo brace or skid plate.

I would love to stick with the stock sway bar if someone made spacers or something to move it forward. Ive been looking around but have not spotted anything like that.
