I had a sway bar put on my '90 some years ago and loved the stuck-to-the-road feeling.
Recently I replaced my Michelin Pilots with Cooper high-speed radials (model # not handy) and it seems to be considerably reduced.

Is this because of the tires or is there some issue with the sway bar?

That is a long way to fall from running about the best tires you can buy to lower pack Cooper tires...nothing like good Michelins (some Bridgestone too) all other tires are not going to handle like them. My dad put Continental's on his 09' Caddy and hated it, threw them out to replace the same Michelin's, no comparison.
