Hi we have a 1999 Nissan front tier, with 298,000 miles on it. It drives very well the cabin is very clean, but it has one problem. You cannot go over 50 miles an hour, otherwise the RPMs go up, and it sounds like it’s going to blow the motor. We’ve had it checked out by four different mechanics, who’v all said that it runs fine.
None of them have highway tested it.

I have heard that the frontier transmission has been problematic, and I would like to swap a Xterra transmission, into this vehicle if possible.

You'll need another one from another 4 banger 2wd truck, otherwise it should work just fine. 98-04 are the years to look for. Not a lot of 4 banger Xterras out there, but there are a few.

Did you mean any 4 banger 2WD truck, or any nissan ?
