Put it in from the bottom with the trans attached (if you hadn't planned on it already)... saves a lot of time and frustration. Pick up a can of PB Blaster and start soaking some of the bolts/nuts you will be taking out... saves some more time and frustration... and trips to the hardware store.

Did you get a mounting kit for it? If so from who? Just trying to get an idea of what you are dealing with...

Take your time and do it right the first time.

Btw, if you are using the sidemount... be aware that it will not fit correctly (under the OEM fender plastic) no matter how much cutting of the bumper and fender you do UNLESS you use custom piping also. That semi-upward bend on the cold pipe just won't fit. Get rid of it! I have mine bolted in, but now the plastic won't fit. And that was after lots of cutting.

Wait. Better idea. Just get an FMIC.

is there any way of ghetto rigging(sp) it to fit. I had no plans for a front mount any time soon. Good thing i asked before diving in

I got mine to fit in my S13 with stock piping, and I would agree that it was a giant pain, and you should seriously just consider a FMIC now.

To make it fit in the s13, I had to take the mounting bracket off, and flip it upside down, and then cut, drill, bend, grind, hammer, you get the idea. My FMIC is on it's way.

I'm guessing running with no intercooler for a couple of weeks is a major no-no, right? funds are running low so i don't want to get fmic and other things i was planning on doing much later, then end up with no money to finish the swap itself. i still need a driveshaft and there's always those little unforeseen penny-pinchers.

Is the fmic piping completely custom or does the R33 piping come close enough to fitting perfectly?

fmic piping is all custom, you can make it use some of the stock piping if you wanted im sure ...

look on ebay for a spearco core, they run about 250-300$ then you have to figure out how you want to mount it and get brackets welded to it, then make the custom piping... but its still cheaper than one of those hybrid kits on ebay.

You can use PVC pipe to make the sidemount fit. frosted did that on his swap. I probably wouldn't run that permanently, but it is a cheap and easy temp solution.

That Monster Hybrid R33 kit looks awsome, and the piping should all fit. I have one on order right now.

I think i'll go the PVC route first just to get back on the road then when things settle down i'll get the FMIC

By the way does it matter than the inlet on my intake is 3" and the Q45 MAF has a diameter bigger than that? Will that affect the reading or not. I just bought one of those Autozone cone filters since i couldn't find a Q45 Maf adapter anywhere

Hey, I didn't say that it wouldn't fit. I just said it won't fit correctly. I had to do lots of cutting just to get it to fit (incorrectly). And I was able to get the plastic on, but it's certainly not how I want it long-term. I plan to make a new cold pipe that runs a bit lower, possibly out of PVC for the time being, then with mild steel later on.
